Know your Range Rover and the Exact Care it Requires
This guide covers essential facts and maintenance tips on your vehicle’s materials and maintenance needs, helping you preserve its luxury finish and high level of appearance for years to come.

Exterior
Range Rover Paint Type
All car paints fall into one of three categories: soft, medium, or hard. Each has unique characteristics that affect appearance, maintenance, and durability.
Range Rover models typically use medium paint - especially on base models. Here’s what that means for your vehicle:
Resistance to Swirls and Scratches
Medium paint is less prone to wash-induced swirls and fine scratches than soft paint. With proper technique, your Range Rover can maintain a swirl-free finish for longer than vehicles with softer paint.
Good for Regular Washing
Medium paint handles routine washing relatively well. Where soft paint might show marks from light contact after a few months worth of contact washing, medium paint stays looking swirl-free and clearer under the same conditions, for longer.
Hides Minor Defects Well
Micro-scratches and swirls are harder to spot on Range Rover paint unless viewed in direct sunlight or at specific angles. This helps your luxury vehicle maintain a clean, glossy appearance for much longer, even if some defects are present.
Ideal for Ceramic Coatings
For the high level protectors; Ceramic coatings bond well to medium paint and are easier to level than applying on softer paint, as it's not as 'sticky' and fragile as softer paint.

Best of Both Worlds
By being in the middle of the scale, it's fair to say your Range Rover's paint has qualities of both soft and hard paint.
Your paint will always look great when cared for, and is relatively easy to work with when polishing to remove any defects.
It'll look glossy, shiny, and full of colour; properties of soft paint, while having abrasion resistance properties from the harder end of the scale.
Summary:
Medium paint could be called the best paint for daily drivers. It has properties belonging to both ends of the scale, such as better gloss and looks than hard paint, with some swirling resistance coming from the harder end of the scale.
Your Range Rover benefits highly from ceramic coatings, with even deeper gloss and even higher light abrasion resistance, plus less need to contact wash, furthering your swirl free exterior for longer.
Range Rover Brake Dust Output
Depending on the vehicles braking system, some vehicles produce more brake dust than others - Range Rovers are known for generating a high amount due to their performance braking setup.

Brake dust is a dark residue that collects on your wheels and brake calipers. Left untreated, it hardens and becomes difficult to remove with standard cleaning methods. Regular washing is essential to prevent build-up and maintain the new, clean look of your wheels and calipers. Alternatively, depending on your wheels material and paint type, an acidic cleaner can remove the embedded brake dust.
More importantly, brake dust doesn’t just sit on the surface, it embeds into your paint. On high-output vehicles like your Range Rover, iron decontamination treatments are recommended 3–4 times per year, depending on usage and environment. These specialised products break down bonded iron particles that standard washes cannot remove.
If left untreated, embedded brake dust causes microscopic damage to your cars clear coat, allowing moisture to enter. This can lead to oxidation and ugly rust specks, harming both your paint’s appearance and your vehicle’s long-term value.
If you inspect your car and find small rust specks on the paint, it's likely this process has caused them.

To reduce this risk, ceramic coatings are strongly recommended. They provide a durable barrier that resists hot, sharp brake particles and makes decontamination far easier, preserving your paint and protecting your investment.
Iron decontamination requirements drop from 3-4 per year, to 2-3 per year with a coating.
Caring for Gloss Plastics on Your Range Rover
Many Range Rover models feature gloss black plastics on the exterior - especially around pillars, trim, and bumpers.
While they enhance the vehicle’s appearance, this soft material is highly prone to scratches and swirls if not cleaned properly.
Gentle Wash Techniques Are Essential
Gloss plastics scratch easily, even from light debris caught in your wash mitt. Avoid applying pressure during washing, and always rinse your mitt frequently. A strong pre-wash is crucial to remove loose dirt before any contact is made.
Take Extra Care During Polishing
Unlike painted panels, gloss plastics are softer and can’t handle as much heat from a polisher. Always keep the machine moving and avoid using heavy-cut compounds - light to medium polishes are typically enough to refine these surfaces without risking damage.
Summary:
With proper care, your Range Rover’s gloss plastics can retain their deep, reflective finish. Gentle techniques and regular maintenance go a long way in preserving their mirror like finish.
Luxury Interior materials
Leather Care
Many Range Rovers include a premium leather interior. While leather brings benefits, it includes not as well known cleaning and care methods to stay in its pristine condition.
Do Not Use APCs
All Purpose Cleaners are too harsh for Range Rover leather. Use a pH-balanced, leather specific cleaner that gently lifts dirt and cleanses its pores without drying out the material. All Purpose Cleaners cause more harm than good for cleaning leather interiors.
Leather Conditioning
Your leather should be conditioned 1–2 times per year at least. This replenishes natural oils and prevents drying and cracking, maintaining their matt, crease free appearance and that signature, widely loved leather scent.
If all leather seating is heavily used throughout the year, we recommend 2-3 conditioning services to ensure it stays crack free and healthy.
Once your leather is ruined, it's a lot more expensive to replace. Instead, care for it from the beginning.
Extra Protection
When you've spent a large amount on something, it's ideal to protect it as much as you can.
Leather ceramic coatings are used globally and highly recommended to preserve your leather by preventing food and drink stains along with dye transfer staining, and also blocks UV damage from discolouring your leather.
Very minimally, they can provide some abrasion protection also, but this does not mean your leather can withstand sharp objects.
We recommend a leather ceramic coating for your Range Rover if you want to preserve your leather interior as much as you physically can, without using seat covers.
Fabric Seating Care
Fabric seats can be cleaned using an all-purpose cleaner or a dedicated enzyme cleaner. For deeper cleaning, professional methods like steam cleaning, chemical treatment, and wet extraction are highly effective.
While these advanced methods deliver the best results, they do require more time, equipment, and expertise.
Hidden Dirt, Hidden Problems
Unlike leather, fabric hides dirt within its fibres. While this helps seats appear cleaner for longer, it also means odours can develop deep inside the material without obvious visual signs of the source.
Recommended Maintenance
We suggest a professional deep clean - including chemical treatment, steam, and wet extraction - at least 4 times a year, depending on how often your seats are used. If it's not a family Rover, you can get away with twice a year.
To prevent long-term staining and preserve your vehicle’s value, we also recommend applying a fabric protectant coating. This repels spills, prevents staining, and makes future cleaning easier and more effective.
Interior Gloss Plastics
Many Range Rover interiors feature high-gloss plastic trim, adding a premium, modern feel. But this delicate material is highly prone to scratches, which can quickly ruin the refined look of your interior.
Cleaning Tips
Always use a clean, soft microfibre and a diluted all-purpose cleaner (APC) when cleaning gloss plastics. Avoid pressure or aggressive wiping, as even minor debris or rough cloth edges can leave visible marks.
Polishing Damaged Trim
If your gloss plastics have been scratched or swirled, careful polishing can reduce or remove the damage.
Use a light polish and low-abrasion pad, and always keep the machine moving. Gloss plastics heat up faster than paint, so heat build up can worsen the damage if you're not careful.
After polishing, use a fresh, soft cloth to gently remove residue - taking care not to reintroduce marks during the final wipe-down.
Key Takeaway:
Interior gloss plastics look stunning when well maintained, but they demand gentle handling and the right tools and methods to stay that way.
Carpet Care
Range Rover carpets are made with higher-quality materials than many other brands, giving them a premium feel and long-lasting durability.
Protect to Preserve
To keep them looking new, apply a fabric protectant or ceramic fabric coating. These treatments create a barrier against stains, helping to maintain both the appearance and resale value of your vehicle.
Routine Maintenance
Regular vacuuming and annual wet extraction are safe on Range Rover carpets and won’t cause fraying or wear - unlike lower-grade carpets in some other vehicles.
In fact, consistent cleaning helps preserve their plush appearance over time, so we recommend taking advantage of your higher quality carpets and vacuuming at least once a month, twice if your Range Rover is used as a family car.
Key Takeaway:
High-quality carpets deserve high-quality care. Protect them early and clean them often to keep your Range Rover’s interior looking sharp and refined.

Seating
Depending on your Range's seating material, will depend on which of the below procedures you get within your package:
Fabric: Shampooed, steam cleaned and wet extracted, removing much deeper dirt from within your fabric seats compared to standard valets.

Leather: Leather Clean and Condition, including leather specific cleaning and conditioning to replenish lost oils and help prevent your leather from drying out, creasing and cracking.

50/50: If your Range Rover seating is half fabric, half leather, which is quite popular within Evoque and Discovery models, then both the fabric and leather procedures are carried out.
Deep Carpet Clean: Steam cleaned, shampooed and wet extracted to remove even the deepest of engrained dirt and stains.

Interior Gloss Plastics: Your piano black, gloss plastics, typically around your audio system and infotainment system, and your centre console on some models, are gently cleaned, removing oils that easily sit on the material, creating smudging and reflections that spoil the materials polished look.
To enhance your Range Rover's interior further than other detailing options within Northern Ireland, these sections are lightly polished, boosting their black gloss, and reducing minor scratches that are taking away from your solid black trim.
Interior Glass: All smudges, finger prints, and any other marks on your glass are removed for a streak-free vision and thoroughly detailed look.
Foot Mats: If your mats are carpets, they're steam cleaned, shampooed and wet extracted, just like your flooring carpets, to return their new, unused look.
When they're used often without deep carpet cleaning for months on end, this procedure makes a huge difference in your interior's appearance.
If you have all weather mats - the rubber style, they're power washed and shampooed, followed by a protective layer that returns their unfaded, unused, grey/ black colour, and keeps them looking brand new for longer.
